hand-crafted tank tops for boys and girls in soft machine-washable merino wool

With eight children between them, sisters-in-law Becki and Christina Chads set up their business, Tank Designs, following a family wedding last summer, for which they were asked to style the children’s outfits. ‘We came up with the idea of putting the children in tank tops made up in luxury wool and in funky colour combinations,' says Becki. 'Such was the interest from friends and guests at the wedding that we decided to put together an autumn/winter 09 collection.’ A range of hand-crafted tank tops for boys and girls in super soft machine washable and breathable merino wool, the Tank Designs collection mixes classic shapes with on-trend colours and stripes. ‘We spent much of our time at the beginning sourcing the perfect yarn,’ says Christina. ‘Now we’ve found it, we both love playing around with different colour combinations before sending them off to be knitted up and hand finished locally. Becki and Christina work from their homes in Hampshire and Surrey, meeting regularly to put together their designs and handle the various aspects of sales and marketing. ‘We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far,’ says Becki. ‘And we get a huge buzz out of listening to our customers’ feedback.
