Snapdragon

hand-crafted accessories using embroidered vintage and UK-made fabrics
Working from an Airstream caravan in the midst of a flower-filled garden and looking over to the hills surrounding her home in Scotland, Jane Lindsey has created a range of stationery, home accessories and gifts that really do come from the heart. ‘I just love creating and want to bring a bit of my garden into other people’s homes,’ says Jane. It was back in 2000 that Jane left her office job as a university art curator to retrain in horticulture and began her business growing cut flowers. ‘In Scotland, this is very seasonal,’ she says. ‘So I decided I’d also return to my love of embroidery and started sketching some designs in my cutting garden.’ These designs were turned into freehand embroidery and in 2003 the Snapdragon collection was born. ‘I am inspired by my surroundings and living the good life,’ says Jane. ‘My particular favourite is the Meadow range because it started when the flowers in my cutting garden seeded into the field creating a gorgeous flowery mead.’ Each piece in Jane’s collection is hand-made using vintage and UK-made materials and each is slightly different to the next. Wonderfully tactile and finished beautifully, Jane’s collection really is, to use her own words, ‘practical art.’
