Sarah Green

Retro-inspired bright and highly individual handmade jewellery
A graduate in graphic design from Central St Martin’s School of Art and Portsmouth University, Sarah Green began making her very individual and striking collection of jewellery five years ago. She now works from a shared artists studio space in Winchester and also lectures at Winchester School of Art.
Favourite piece? At the moment it’s my ‘butterfly folk necklace’ because I like the fact that I can bring my hand-drawn illustration into it and it’s a very feminine piece.
What inspires you? I am crazy about the late fifties/early sixties when simple designs incorporating scalloped collars and bows were all the rage. Think Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly and Mad Men. I also love contemporary interior design and the palettes of designers such as Missoni and Matthew Williamson.
What’s special? Every piece is thought through and part of a true design process, right down to the smallest details. The print of the butterfly for instance is a fresh design drawn by me and inspired by the memory of my mum’s sun hat in the 70s. These are pieces of wearable art.
