For Margaret Appleby, inspiration begins with the fine fabrics she uses to make her exquisite new range of clothing. ‘I really love the handle of good quality material such as my Liberty printed silks and for me this is the starting point,’ says Margaret. ‘Then it’s a question of “what would this look lovely made into?’’ Margaret’s clothing label, Linen Lawn, launched this Spring in London, to fantastic response, and she’s definitely a new name to watch. Modern, flirty and wonderfully wearable, Margaret’s collection can be worn by women of all ages. ‘I love that my clothes help make women look fabulous,’ says Margaret. ‘It gives me a thrill every time.’ Working alone from a studio looking over the grounds of her rural manor house home, Margaret is a perfectionist when it comes to quality and finish. And it shows. ‘What makes my clothes special is the good design, wonderful fabrics, quality materials and the fantastic fit,’ says Margaret. We couldn’t agree more. All handmade in England, Margaret’s collection is, as it says on her labels ‘as individual as you are!’
