Handcrafted cushions made from original fabrics in bright, fresh and colourful designs

A graduate in Textiles from Bath Spa University in 2010, we first came across Alexis Richards at the New Designers show in London that year. Her colourful and unique collection stood out a mile for us and we were soon sat cross-legged and enthralled as she took us through her huge portfolio of original designs and sample fabrics. Alexis has since been working hard to put together her first commercial collection and we are thrilled to be able to launch it here. She is definitely a name to watch.
How are your designs created? I am inspired by colour, my garden and natural forms, particularly birds. I love vintage postcards which I find at flea markets and any images I come across that I like in a magazine are torn out and hung on the inspiration wall in my studio in Dorset. Once a design idea is hatched, I’ll paint it by hand, then create repeats which I’ll have printed onto high quality fabric. The most exciting part is when I have sewn the last stitch of a cushion cover and added the inner. Seeing my creation come to life in a functional 3D form is thrilling!
