For a cheaper alternative to a print, why not frame any of these cards. Rummage antique fairs, flea markets and charity shops for an eclectic mix of frames and use old music manuscripts or vintage wallpapers that compliment the colours for backing, instead of a plain colour
Little Grey Dove
Quirky, colourful and utterly original handmade cards and Giclée prints
Since graduating, Northumberland-based Donna Snowdon has been combining her work as an art technician and freelance designer with the creation and production of her own stunning collection of Giclée prints and cards. The name for her business came about whilst creating a collaged illustration using an old manuscript on which was printed a sweet old poem… The Little Grey Dove.
What’s special about your work?
I only use found papers that have history to them. Many were passed down from my Nan, including old rent and ration books from the Second World War. This makes it more personal. My art prints are produced using a technique called Giclée using Lucia inks which last up to 70 years for light fastness and have UV resistance.
Favourite piece?
My Record Tokens print. I originally painted and collaged the image for a birthday gift and loved it so much that I made a second original for myself!
Best bit about what you do?
It really makes all the hard work worthwhile when you get a lovely compliment. It still makes me beam when I hear someone say something I’ve made is lovely.
