Laura Rose Textiles

Highly original and charming artwork and lavender bags using textiles, stitch and miniature objects
Textiles graduate Laura Rose Kimber is now a resident textile artist at the Farnham Maltings in Surrey where she works from a shared studio to produce her exquisite – and utterly original – collection.
What do you love about what you do? Immersing myself into the surreal spaces that inspire me. Working from children’s stories and dolls houses, I almost feel as though I am creating my own little world. Combining techniques such as print, knit, stitch embroidery and crochet, then bringing the pictures alive with dolls house objects is really exciting.
Favourite piece? For the little girl. I love how it captures a story. It takes me back to my childhood.
Where do you find inspiration? Places such as the Childhood Museum in London, Musée de la Poupée in Paris, Vintage and Antique shops. Childrens stories such as Beatrix Potter’s, The Borrowers and Thumbelina. Dolls House shops and my studio.
