Jade Marczynski Embroidery

Hand embroidered textile art pieces with a contemporary yet vintage feel.
Bradford based Jade Marczynski graduated in Textile Crafts from Huddersfield University in 2010 and has since set up her own business. Her degree show was inspired by quotes and insights Jade gained from interviews with people who had lived through the Second World War and we were blown away when we came across the result of her efforts.
Favourite piece? My caravan, as I was able to combine and re-use vintage fabric with a retro style image.
Best bit? I love seeing the imagery from my head come to life on the fabric, which I then alter to suit, something I really enjoy as if I am drawing with thread.
What’s special about your collection? I think what makes my collection special is the use of traditional techniques-such as hand embroidery-which I bring into the present.
Proudest moment? Probably being selected for Selvedge’s New Designers award and also how my work progressed throughout my degree, especially the relationships created between the volunteers and myself.
“I invited my volunteers to visit my degree show, one of them came three times to show my work to different members of her family. She was very proud that her and her late husbands memories and experiences had been used in my work”
