Our managing director, Laura, says: ‘My children sent my mum the ‘don’t try to teach grandma to suck eggs’ handkerchief in her birthday card and she hooted. It’s something I remember her saying to me as a child. Explaining the exact meaning to the children wasn’t so easy…’

hand-made printed fabric keepsake and tooth fairy envelopes
Totally original and utterly charming, Elizabeth Adams’ collection of printed fabric keepsake and tooth fairy envelopes comes straight from the heart. ‘My range is a combination of all the loves of my life,’ she says. ‘Its concept is embedded in memories and from rooting through my collection of ephemera. There is nothing better than finding a gem which I know will resonate today as when it was first printed or made.’ Support from The Prince’s Trust allowed Elizabeth to give up two of her three jobs in early 2008, freeing her up to concentrate on getting her business off the ground with the help of her mum, aunt and cousin. A big believer in British producers, Elizabeth prints her fabrics in Lincolnshire and the products are sewn up by herself and her Aunty Barbary in Wiltshire before being finished and packed by cousin Jill. ‘It’s not unusual for a customer to find themselves in tears when they pick up one of my keepsake envelopes,’ says Elizabeth. ‘Especially the love letter envelope which says “it’s one of those mornings when I feel like I’ll see you every minute.” I guess it taps into emotions you didn’t even know you were harboring.’ We defy you to find a more original or heat-felt gift for your loved ones.
