Lasso verdict: When we unpacked the cushions for our shoot there was an audible gasp of delight from our photographer. She works for all the major glossy interiors mags and thought that Fiona’s range was really something very special and unlike anything else around. We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Quirky, quality and quintessentially english home accessories
Graphic designer Fiona Barlow uses image-making to great effect within her exhibition work for major arts sector clients including the Science Museum and the British Library. In January of this year she decided to launch her own range of cushions and furniture to allow her to indulge her passion for storytelling through design.
Where do you get your ideas? I am inspired by lives lived, and the journeys they take. Each of my designs is part of a wider story that I spend ages fabricating before I get to the finalised design. ‘On the origami of species’ for instance plays with the idea of the ordinary in the extraordinary – the thought of Darwin chasing the wrong hypotheses and going right off track on his journey to the seminal work.
What are you most proud of? Being able to source quality cotton ticking for the backs of my cushions that is still woven in Lancashire, despite the fact that so many of the old mills have shut down.
